WELCOME to RACELINECENTRAL'S IROC TRIBUTE & INFORMATION

The IROC race cars are "born" in the South Carolina shop of Mike Laughlin, one of the country's premier builders of stock cars. Laughlin uses steel tubing to form the cars' skeleton, then ships the completed 600-pound chassis to IROC headquarters.

The Engines are modified versions of a GM 350 cubic-inch small-block V-8. Horsepower is a conservative 500 at 6800 rpm in the interest of reliability and durability.

Bodywork is molded by Diversified Glass Products, Inc. of Marlette, Michigan.

Signore and crew assemble the pieces. The completed car weighs 3,500 pounds. The Ease of maintenance is a priority.

Veteran IROC test drivers Dave Marcis, Jim Sauter, Dick Trickle and Andy Hillenburg run the cars before each series event to ensure that chassis suspension settings are the same.

Yes, The California Highway Patrol Also Use Camaro
Highway Patrol Camaro
These cars are being used more and more by the Police and by
the city police. Apparently the request was made so they can keep
up with the bad guys. When I lived in California some years back,
I had the privilege of also catching a glimpse of a Highway Patrol
Chevrolet Corvette with the same paint scheme shown above. I
Heard that there were a few placed into service a few years back
for some mid-state extended straight highways like Interstate 5.
