Tutorial Help Version 2
[CONTROL]
airlift Key_SPACE This will right you if you flip over in the game onto roof.
horn I wish this was working in NASCAR Heat, but why's it here? It was left over from a game that in the most part used to build NASCAR Heat. This game was Viper Racing. If you own Viper Racing, take a look at the almost identical file, folder, construction of each and you will see that its just Viper Racing with a face lift.
nonlinear_steering 1.000000 I set this to high or push slider all the way to the right in the game. This makes the sports car feel or the steering seem to be less abrupt. It helps if your over steering or can't seem to stay in the middle of the road very well.
[GLOBAL]
enable_ui_click yes I say yes to this, but no is available. This will make the car in the game make a mechanical click sound that adds to the reality of real racing and the sounds that are in the real life.
hardcore_enabled yes Yes or No. This key adds Hardcore mode to your menu choice as: Normal, Expert, or Hardcore. The car will be harder to handle, but higher speeds easier passing and faster lap times are possible. You may as well turn this on here and then you will be able to use it or not in the game as a choice. You don't have to select it in the menu if you don't wish to race hardcore.
no_video yes Yes or No. Say Yes to get rid of the that introduction movie.

fov 140.000000 Forward vision Field of View. default is 130░. Max is 140 The minimum value you can have is 91 or the game will reset it to default. This may have no effect with some video cards, resolutions or views, or it just may not work at all. Nevertheless, the minimum value of 91░ is still correct.
high_detail_car yes If the option for High Detail Cars is not available in your graphics menu, setting this manually in the options.cfg file may force it to appear. I believe it depends on how close your system is to accepting it.
mirror_fov 140.000000 Rear view mirror Field of View. The default is 82. The maximum value you can have here is 140 or the game will reset it to default. This option always works and will help to eliminate blind spots when cars are beside you, slightly behind you, or slightly in front (passing or being passed). Caution: Objects in Mirror are Closer Than They Appear. It takes some getting used to, but to me it's worth it for the visibility. for best viewing 130 to 140 is best.
vertex_damage no When set to Yes, this key will allow more visible car damage and damage on the sides of the cars. The drawback is that the game takes forever to load. You'll think that the game locked up, but it's not.

NASCAR Heat lock up produces a log file named Heat.log

Well, if you noticed that there is a button to send this to the game company via: email.
I can say with experience from many other gamers that this is a pure waste of email and time. Your better off not sending for your privacy reasons and learn to analyze it yourself. Try to reverse what you have done to effect the game or reload the game if fails continue after trying to repair. Many times this will happen if you have installed a mod from someone other then Hasbro or a patch version mismatch and even files that are missing. If this is your case, be sure to email the original Mod Maker's web site until they help you or just remove the Mod and consider asking another gamer for help. This is usually the case though. Most of these problems are simple and can be found in between the over line and underline bars about 3/4 the way down the error log, see below for a simulated example.

Glitches, Hints, Cheats, in NASCARHeat for On or Offline play.

Go to the Sears Point track and go up the first hill. When you are at the top, turn left and go through the small gap in the wall. Then turn right, go to the big hill, and hit it as fast as you can. You will be bounce all over the place when you are going through the field.

Select the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Come off pit road and follow the inside road and two roads down. At the second road, turn left and drive slowly (under 90 mph). You will fall into nothing, appear back on the course as a ghost, and slowly change back to your original appearance.

Hints: In Heat's arcade-oriented Normal mode, there is no substitute for raw speed. On the ovals, don't even worry about slowing down for corners if there's a car ahead of you, because he'll make a convenient brake. In fact, finding yourself absolutely surrounded by cars in a turn is actually a good thing, as they'll essentially carry you through the turn. And finally, get down low on the apron for passing, as your car won't bounce about over the track angle transition point nearly as much as it will in Expert mode.

If you've overshot a turn in Expert mode, don't feel you must keep the brake pedal crushed until you've slowed to a stop. Instead, apply the brakes as you would in a real car, then let up on them and slowly accelerate through the final stages of the corner. Not many games allow you to drive your way out of trouble, but this one does and it's just a great feeling.

Take care to avoid instances of quarter-panel contact. If you're tapped there in this game, there's a strong likelihood you'll spin or temporarily lose control.

Use the whole track. Unlike much of its competition, NASCAR Heat opens up several passing lanes on each of its oval circuits, allowing you to pass up high and in other spots with which you may not be accustomed.

Remember, your AI opponents will slow considerably when they have to deal with back markers. You, on the other hand, can smoothly sail on by.
